COLOMBO (News 1st); Iran's President Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi has said that the visit to Pakistan and Sri Lanka"at this point sent a message to the region and the world that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a powerful country that can both speak from a position of authority and honour with enemies and continue and strengthen relations with friends”.

According to a statement from the President's Office, Dr. Raisi had pointed out that the trip to Pakistan and Sri Lanka had been planned in advance

Referring to the second part of his trip to Sri Lanka, Dr Raisi noted, “The first topic of trip to Sri Lanka, which has good relations with Iran, was the opening of a large and multi-purpose hydroelectric project in the country, which was carried out by the Iranian company Farab with completely up-to-date and high-level technology and complex and significant scientific work. The inauguration of this dam was good news for the people of Sri Lanka, and it was decided to pursue the export of technical and engineering services from Iran to Sri Lanka”.

Stating that the Islamic Republic of Iran has good capacities in various fields, including the export of technical-engineering services, based on which we can have good cooperation with neighbouring and Asian countries, the President said, “The second topic of the trip to Sri Lanka is the development of trade and economic cooperation with this country that good decisions were made about them”.

Dr Raisi expressed hope that relations with Asian countries, especially Pakistan and Sri Lanka, would develop further in the field of bilateral, regional and international, commercial, scientific and technological cooperation with these neighbours and independent countries.
