Iran, Sri Lanka Commit to Collaboration; Call for Action to End Gaza Violence

COLOMBO (News 1st); Emphasizing that there is no obstacle to the development of political, economic and cultural relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Sri Lanka, Dr. Ebrahim Raisi said that the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the government of Sri Lanka are determined to promote the relations between the two countries in all fields and at all levels.

Dr. Raisi was speaking at a joint briefing alongside, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The Iranian President said such a decision will benefit the two countries and the two nations.

Dr. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi stated that the relations between Iran and Sri Lanka have entered a new stage and are developing, especially after the victory of the Islamic revolution, and added: "In the talks between the high officials of the two countries, the level of cooperation in various political, economic and commercial sectors was emphasized. Culture, tourism, science and technology will increase."

Dr. Raisi called the exchange of capacities in Iran and Sri Lanka for the benefit of the two countries and the two nations and added: "It was decided that the foreign ministers of the two countries should put the joint commission of Iran and Sri Lanka on the agenda in order to develop the mechanisms of trade relations as quickly as possible. and economy, especially in the fields of agriculture and science and technology, and provide the basis for the implementation of the decisions and agreements made during this trip."

The president continued addressing the Sri Lankan people and statesmen by stating that the threats and sanctions have not stopped or slowed down the progress of the Islamic Republic of Iran, but have made his nation more determined to continue on this path.

"Today, considering the remarkable progress and achievements of the engineers, Iranian experts and scientists in various fields, Iran can be called an advanced and technological country."

The Iranian president referred to the issue of Palestine as the most important issue in the world and the main concern of all nations and said: "What is happening today, the continuous and horrific crimes in Gaza, has caused concern and astonishment for all the people of the world, and their question is why. International organizations and human rights do not fulfill their duties in this field?"

The President stated that the immediate cessation of attacks and crimes against the people of Gaza, immediate aid and unhindered access to humanitarian aid for the people of this region is the common position of the two countries of Iran and Sri Lanka.

Dr. Raisi raised the question that if the international system does not punish the oppressors and usurpers, what guarantee is there that another group will not commit the same actions and crimes against another country.
