Head on collision between three-wheeler and pick-up kills cop, wife, and relative

COLOMBO (News 1st); Three people from the same family died in a tragic motor accident in the Nuga Yaya area along the Wellawaya - Thanamalvila Road.

Sri Lanka Police said that the accident was a result of a head on collision between a three-wheeler and a Pick-up truck.

The deceased were identified as a 44-year-old Police Sergeant attached to the Thanamalvila Police, his 42-year-old wife, and his 70-year-old father-in-law.

Sri Lanka Police said that they were traveling in the three-wheeler at the time, and another child was rushed to the Moneragala District Hospital for treatment.

Police said that the driver of the Pick-up truck was driving under the influence, and it was revealed that he did not possess a driver's license as well.

The driver of the Pick-up truck was arrested, and the Wellawaya Police is conducting an investigation.
