Colombo (News 1st) - A Saudia Airlines Airbus A330 with passengers on board was hit by gunfire at Sudan’s Khartoum International Airport, but all passengers and crew are safe, the airline said.
All passengers and crew disembarked and managed to reach the Saudi Embassy in Khartoum safely, the airline said.
The incident took place on Saturday as ferocious fighting erupted between supporters of the country’s two top generals, with the military supporting one faction and a large paramilitary force supporting the other. Over 25 people have already been killed as fighting rages across the country.
