COLOMBO (News 1st) - Wednesday (29) is the final day for political parties to submit their accounting reports for the year 2021, according to the Election Commission.
The commission had given 14 days starting from the 16th of this month for the submission of these reports.
Failing to comply with this requirement will result in the Election Commission terminating the right of the political party to be recognized, per the provisions of the Parliament Elections Act (No. 1 of 1981).
The Election Commission has stated that further discussions on this matter will be held at a meeting scheduled for the 4th of April.
It's important for political parties to take this deadline seriously and submit their accounting reports to avoid losing recognition, said the Election Commission.
