Viral incident unrelated to ragging: Peradeniya student union

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Student Union of the Peradeniya University emphasizes that the viral incident which took place on September 14th at the Peradeniya University is not related to any ragging incident.

Anuradha Vidanage, the President of the University of Peradeniya Student Union stressed that the incident was not at all related to bullying and ragging, and further stated that despite their non-involvement, a decision has been taken by the University administration that would severely hamper the university education system itself. 

He also said that the student union does not approve of the said incident, adding that despite their response, the union continues to remain a target.

He said that other students continue to threaten the union, and demanded whether they should issue a press release in this regard to halt such activities from taking place, adding that the University administration should be held responsible in this regard.
