COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Auditor General has initiated a special investigation into the unilateral termination of the Light Rail Project by the Government of Sri Lanka.
Auditor General W.P. Wickramaratne stated that a report in this regard will be submitted to the Parliament soon.
Former President Gotabaya Rajapakse ordered for the cancellation of the project, which was due to include 16 stations along a 15.7 kilometer stretch utilizing Japanese technology, rationalizing that it was not a "profitable solution" to traffic congestion.
