COLOMBO (News 1st) - The administration of the University of Peradeniya has planned to provide part-time job opportunities to students within the university premises.
Vice-Chancellor Professor M.D. Lamawansa says plans are in place to provide part-time jobs to around 300 students.
He told News 1st that 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students will be prioritized for part-time jobs adding that if any 1st-year student requires a part-time job, it would also be considered.
Such a part-time job program is being implemented for the first time in the country's state university system at Peradeniya University.
Prof. Lamawansa said this program is being implemented to provide working experience and training to students.
The students will be permitted to engage in part-time jobs for 15 to 20 hours per month.
