SLAF recognizes children who excelled G5 exam

COLOMBO (News 1st); In keeping with the concept of recognizing Children of Sri Lanka Air Force personnel and Civilians with high academic achievements, the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit organized a program to felicitate the students who performed extremely well at the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination. 

The program was held today (26 August 2022) at the Air Force Headquarters Auditorium with the graceful presence of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana as the Chief Guest, and the event was hosted by the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Charmini Pathirana. 

Scholarships were awarded to 333 students who passed the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination in 2021. Nevertheless, 15 students who possessed highest marks were felicitated among the cluster  and 5 students from 2019 have been selected under the scheme of “Viru Sisu Pradeepa” which is initiated by the National Defence Fund were also felicitated today by the Chief Guest.

These students were symbolically awarded with financial grants and stationery items by the Seva Vanitha Unit. 

The Commander and the Chairperson congratulated and expressed their best wishes to students who deserved well in their examinations during the ceremony. 

Director Welfare, Air Vice Marshal Hemantha Soysa, Air Secretary, Group Captain Anuruddha Wijesiriwardena, Senior Members of the Seva Vanitha Unit, Presidents Seva Vanitha, Officers-In-Charge Seva Vanitha and Coordinators Seva Vanitha of all SLAF Establishments, Officers and Parents of the students were also present at the ceremony.
