COLOMBO (News 1st); Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that paddy stocks held by the Paddy Marketing Board will be converted to rice to be sold to the local market.
He said the rice will be sold via Sathosa and Co-Operative outlets across the island.
The Paddy Marketing Board currently holds 40,000 MT of paddy, and after converting it to rice, a kilogram can be sold for less than Rs. 200/- said the Minister.
Accordingly, Nadu Rice and Kekulu Rice will be released to the market.
