Rainfall for several areas in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meteorology stated that showers occurred in several places in the country such as Northern, North-central, Eastern, and Uva provinces.

Showers are to enhance from 02nd March 2022, night to 04th March 2022.

Heavy rainfall above 100 mm can be expected at some places in these areas during this period.

Several spells of showers will occur in Eastern and Uva provinces and the Matale district on Tuesday (March 1).

Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Galle, Matara, Ratnapura, and Nuwara-Eliya districts during the evening or night on Monday (28).

Wind speed can increase up to 40 kmph at times in Uva and North-western provinces and in Batticaloa, Ampara, Hambantota, and Matale districts.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
