Govt is operating like a pre-paid service: CEB unions

COLOMBO (News 1st); The General Secretary of the CEB trade union "Nawa Sewaka Sangamaya", Priyantha Wickremesinghe alleges that the Government is operating like a pre-paid service. 

Speaking on the existing power issues in the country, Priyantha Wickremesinghe pointed out that while the Government is keen on printing rupees, when the Government runs out of printing paper, the country loses everything. 

Further stating that the actual rate of the dollar has gone north of Rs. 250/-, the TU General Secretary stated that the Government is facing dire financial issues to the point that they committed fraud of Rs. 2 billion from the garlic scam and Rs. 15.9 billion from the sugar scam. 

Demanding as to why the Parliamentary Committee of Public Accounts cannot recover the funds, he pointed out that it is the Government which needs to fund energy management and to produce fuel.
