Transmission issue from Kothmale to Biyagama, cause for island-wide power cut

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Power announced that an issue on the transmission system from Kothmale to Biyagama was the cause of the Island-wide blackout on Friday (3).

The CEB General Manager said it would take several hours to restore the supply of power.

In the meantime, the blackout has also resulted in water cut to Colombo and suburbs.

Sri Lanka Railways also announced that its operations from Fort, Colombo will be delayed due to the power cut.
