COLOMBO (News 1st): The parliamentary proceedings will commence at 10:00 am today (08) under the patronage of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
According to News 1st's parliamentary correspondent, the draft bill of the Kotelawala Defence Academy Act will be taken up for debate during today's parliamentary session.
Based on political sources, the Opposition is set to call for a vote on the Kotelawala Defence Academy Act today (08), the News 1st's parliamentary correspondent noted.
Meanwhile, Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) is also scheduled to convene at 2:00 PM today (08), and officers of the National Housing Development Authority have been summoned before COPE.
Furthermore, Basil Rajapaksa is set to be sworn in as the National List Member of Parliament representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) today (Jul. 08), at the beginning of the session and he will be allotted the 09th front-row seat on the side of the government in parliament, reported the News 1st's Parliamentary correspondent.
