Heads of Institutions must ensure efficient public service: PM

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Heads of Institutions must ensure that an efficient and effective service is provided to the general public, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said on Friday (Jun. 11). The Premier had expressed these views during a discussion held at the Temple Trees regarding the current situation of the Employees' Trust Fund (ETF), the Prime Minister's Office said. Heads of Institutions must provide the required guidance to ensure that consumers who visit institutions to obtain services are provided with efficient service through proper intervention, the Prime Minister further noted. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa emphasized that public service is a responsibility as well as a duty. The Premier had further pointed out the significance of Heads of Institutions and Representatives of Trade Unions working together to resolve issues within the institutions, the Prime Minister's Office noted.
