COLOMBO (News1st): Opposition lawmaker Vijitha Herath has said that there is a connection between selling off lands in Colombo when the Port City Bill has been passed.
"There is an ulterior motive behind this. That is why these are taking place," Herath said on Sunday.
He made these remarks in reference to the Special Purpose Vehicle that had been set up under an entity named Selendiva Investments Pvt. Ltd. which is completely owned by the Treasury to attract investments for various projects.
"They have done this with the objective of selling assets and properties. If the government feels that they have to sell off these assets to generate revenue, that is a very foolish move," Tissa Attanayake, a Samagi Jana Balawegaya lawmaker said.
