Island-wide travel restriction from 11:00 PM tonight (21)

COLOMBO (News 1st): An island-wide travel restriction will come into effect at 11:00 PM tonight (May 21), which will remain in effect until 4:00 AM on Tuesday (May 25). The island-wide travel restriction will once again be re-imposed at 11:00 PM on the 25th of May, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva, the Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) noted. Thereafter, the travel restriction will remain in place until 4:00 AM on Friday (May 28). "EXCLUDING those who are engaged in essential services, everyone else SHOULD stay at home whilst the travel restriction is in effect," the Army Commander emphasized.

25th May 2021:  Travel Restriction RE-IMPOSED at 11:00 PM 26th May 2021:  Travel Restriction in effect 27th May 2021:  Travel Restriction in effect 28th May 2021:  Travel Restriction LIFTED at 4:00 AM Whilst pointing out that there is an increase in the rate of COVID-19 patients detected in the country, General Shavendra Silva noted that the travel restriction is aimed at ensuring the safety of the people. "In addition to Sri Lanka Police, the Tri-Forces will also be dispatched for duty while the travel restriction is in effect," the Army Commander also noted.
