COLOMBO (News 1st); 30 prisoners connected to organized crimes and drug trafficking were moved to the Boossa Maximum-Security Prison, said the Department of Prisons.
Commissioner of Prisons (Administration and Rehabilitation) Chandana Ekanayake, the Spokesperson for the Department of Prisons speaking to News 1st said these 30 prisoners will be moved to new cells at the Boossa Maximum-Security Prison.
"A communication jamming system is in operation 24/7 at the Boossa Maximum-Security Prison and CCTV cameras are also in operation all the time," he said adding security for the Boossa Maximum-Security Prison is provided by the Police Special Task Force.
The Boossa Maximum-Security Prison is used to hold convicted drug traffickers and members of organized crime syndicates.
Currently, the Boossa Maximum-Security Prison holds 76 criminals, said the Prison Spokesperson.
