Police arrest vehicle racketeer in Kaduwela

Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police arrested a man from Kaduwela for renting vehicles and re-selling them in the market by changing the chassis and number plates.

The Special Investigations Unit of the Western Province (South) in Mirihana arrested the 26-year-old man on Sunday (07), said DIG Ajith Rohana. Sri Lanka Police recovered over 40 documents of vehicles as well as false complaints to recover vehicle number plates from the possession of the suspect, said the Police Spokesperson. The Deputy Police Chief said the suspect rents-out vehicles from a rent-a-car service and then falsify the documents and number plates to re-sell the vehicle to unsuspecting buyers.
