Online petition against the ECT deal

An online petition which is to be presented to the President commenced today against the transfer of the East Container Terminal of the Colombo Port to a foreign company.

The petition was launched by the National Trade Union Center.

"The reason for the handing over of the ECT, whether it be for investment, a donation, or development is irrelevant" Politburo Member of the JVP K.D. Lal Kantha said.

"We request the public to think of the country and support this effort in the way they can despite political party preference," he added.
