COLOMBO (News1st): President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has declared that the US Millenium Challenge Corporation agreement will not be signed under his administration.
The Aruna Newspaper reported on Sunday that the President had said that various groups are portraying a false anti-US stance to appease the gallery.
He had insisted that the MCC would not be signed even in his dreams.
The report quoted the president as saying that it was Sri Lanka who reminded the US on human rights recently, contrary to how it had been taking place in the opposite manner.
The President had reiterated that the government is of a policy to protect its sovereignty and that it is not under the influence China or any other country.
He had added that he will not allow our country to be threatened in any way, stating that India is a neighbour and China is a friend.
According to the report, the President had said that he informed the US State Secretary that he will not allow the country to be used in a way that would threaten India.
