COLOMBO (News1st): Nine more expatriates who returned to the country have tested positive for COVID-19 since September 2, officials said on Thursday.
Three expatriates from India, two each from the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, and one from Qatar had tested positive for the virus.
They are currently undergoing quarantine, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said in a statement.
Meanwhile, 26 expatriates who are due to return from Kathmandu will be sent for quarantine at centres managed by the tri-forces, the statement read.
It added that 281 individuals who returned from Qatar, Israel and Jordan during the last 24 hours are currently undergoing quarantine.
According to the operation centre, 443 individuals undergoing quarantine are to be sent to their homes following a PCR test on Thursday.
This would raise the total number of people who have sent home after quarantine to 35,780.
Sri Lanka has recorded 3102 cases of coronavirus infections and 2889 recoveries since the virus started spreading in the country in March.
