Underworld hit-man 'Indra' shot dead by Police during an escape attempt

COLOMBO (News 1st): Underworld hit-man and close aide of the slain underworld leader 'Samayan', identified as Kanattagamage Indunil Vajira Kumara alias 'Indra' was shot dead by Police late Friday (28) night as he attempted to escape from custody. 'Indra' was recently arrested for heroin possession on Thursday (27). Sri Lanka Police said he was escorted to a location where he had hidden weapons used to commit multiple crimes. When returning back from a site, the suspect made and attempt to block the vision of the Police SUV driver and steer the SUV into the Kelani River, said Sri Lanka Police. In order to prevent that from happening police opened fire at the suspect, killing him. A Police Officer injured in the tussle was admitted to the National Hospital in Colombo. 'Indra' was wanted by authorities for multiple homicides, extortion rackets, heroin trafficking, and other crimes.
