COLOMBO (News 1st): More startling revelations were uncovered on Wednesday (Aug 26), regarding the stock of Heroin and weapons belonging to notorious underworld criminal Janith Madusanka De Silva alias "Podi Lassie", which were discovered from Rathgama, on Tuesday (Aug 25). The information was revealed following the interrogation of the suspect arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department, in Rathgama. During a special raid conducted by the Criminal Investigations Department in Rathgama on Tuesday (Aug 25), 12 kg of heroin valued at over Rs. 100 million, four firearms and bullets were seized. Following police investigations, information has come to light that officers at the Police Narcotics Bureau who are currently in custody over smuggling Heroin, had provided Heroin and weapons to two individuals in Gonapinuwala. The two individuals had then given the Heroin and weapons to the suspect who is currently in the custody of the CID, after being arrested from Thelwatta, Rathgama, Sri Lanka Police said on Wednesday. According to the Criminal Investigations Department, the drug racket was operated by a cousin of "Podi Lassie" who is residing in Dubai. Meanwhile, an accomplice of organised gang member - "Keselwatte Dinuka" was arrested in Uswetakeiyawa along with drugs. The arrest was made during a raid conducted by Pamunugama Police, based on information received. The suspect is a resident of Mattakkuliya. 2.5 kg of Kerala Cannabis, 15 grams of narcotic known as ICE, and 40 grams of heroin were seized from the suspect's possession.
