Murder suspect to be charged for money laundering

COLOMBO (News1st): An organized criminal facing murder charges has been arrested and will now be charged for money laundering, police said. The criminal who is out on bail, was arrested in Matugama, upon a questioning carried out on his accomplice who was also arrested by the police. "The suspects will be produced before the Matugama Magistrate tomorrow," police spokesman Jaliya Senaratne told reporters on Monday. Two foreign manufactured firearms were seized at the time of the arrest. The chief suspect had a large bank balance and would be charged under the Money Laundering Act, according to the police.
