Prisons Island-Wide Out-of-Bounds for all visitors until further notice

Upuldeniya said this decision was taken after an inmate at the Welikada Prison tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday(07).

PCR tests were performed on 315 Prison Officers and Inmates at the Welikada Prison and the results are awaited.

However, 189 inmates at the Welikada Prison were moved to the Punani Quarantine Facility and 09 Prison Officers were moved to a Quarantine Facility in Rajagiriya.
