Ward at Kalubowila Teaching Hospital closed off after the detection of a COVID-19 patient

COLOMBO (News1st): A ward of the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital has been closed following the detection of a COVID-19 patient. Additionally, 15 patients and 20 staff members who came in contact with the patient have been moved to quarantine. The 15 Patients who came into close contact with the Covid-19 patient will be transferred to the Homagama Hospital, According to Dr. Asela Gunewardena, the Director of the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, the patient who tested positive had arrived at the hospital on March 27 with a cough and high temperature. She has tested positive for contracting COVID 19 this evening. Dr. Asela Gunewardena added that upon inquiry the patient had mentioned that he did not come into contact or associate any person who could be at the risk of spreading the virus. However, he had added that he met with an individual who had arrived from Australia on the 11th of this month and that the individual does has not shown any symptoms of the virus as of yet.
