COLOMBO (News 1st) -The government has decided to compensate the loss incurred by importers when selling Dhal and Salmon at the set controlled price, officials said on Thursday.
This decision was reached at a discussion held between the President's Secretary and the Importers of Essential Commodities on Wednesday.
An agreement was reached to compensate the loss incurred by these importers, on a weekly basis.
A controlled price of 65 rupees per kilo for Dhal and 100 rupees for a 450 gram tin of salmon, was imposed with effect from Wednesday following the announcement made by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
