COLOMBO (News 1st):- The Sri Lanka Freedom Party convened a rally in Pothuhera, Kurunegala today (March 7).  The event was held under the patronage of SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara. Speaking at the rally he said;
"Today the SLFP is being criticized heavily. The UNP is not being scolded anymore. They are scolding the SLFP and Maithripala Sirisena. It does not matter if respected leaders such as Mahinda Rajapaksa, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, or Basil Rajapaksa scold us. However, it is those in the lower rung who are making such remarks. During the last three months one faction of the government is attacking the other. Is this the right thing to do? How can a two-thirds majority be formed if they keep fighting. Now they are lashing out at the SLFP. What will happen to Gotabaya Rajapaksa if those with links to Maithripala Sirisena had not voted in favour of him? Then he would have lost the election."
He also added;
"At that time, Prasanna Ranatunga could have said that we do not want the votes of those with links to Maithripala Sirisena. Did he say that? No. They somehow signed an agreement. However, they are now saying not to vote for those who have ties with Maithripala Sirisena. They could have said it earlier. Therefore, what they are trying to do now is to destroy the SLFP. There is no SLPP without the SLFP. We are making such remarks after waiting with much patience. Do we have to remain silent or form a new political force? We should act very carefully in this regard."
