Colombo (News 1st): The future of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party - Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna alliance appears to be at stake, with contradicting view being made from both sides. State Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama said the SLPP continues maintain its position to contest the election under the symbol of the lotus flower-bud. Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera, who is the General Secretary of the SLFP said if the SLPP wants to contest alone, the agreement should be terminated and the SLFP is not prepared to plead to form an alliance. He said contesting under the symbol of the lotus flower-bud is one thing the SLFP will have to re-think about. State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena believes any party which contests with the SLPP would achieve a resounding victory and does not want the SLPP to be under-estimated. General Secretary of the United People's Freedom Alliance, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said the UPFA has no intention of causing any inconvenience to the President and all matters should be resolve through dialogue.
