Colombo (News 1st): Propaganda Secretary of the Frontline Socialist Party Pubudu Jagoda expressed these views regarding the Millenium Challenge Corporation Compact.
"MCC is an institution established to provide aid to many countries in the world. However, it is not as transparent as claimed. The board of directors consists of four people namely; the State Secretary of the US Department of State, a Treasury Secretary, a representative of the Department of Trade, and the US international development agency. The operational board is made up of these 4 individuals and 4 other businessmen. The CEO of the MCC is Sean Crankos who is US President Donald Trump's Deputy Assistant and an advisor to the White House. Those involved in handling the MCC are involved with the US government. Sri Lanka has been given USD 480 million as a major grant. Where do we get this from? It is the US Congress that allocates the money. MCC has signed agreements with 29 countries and Sri Lanka signs it as the 30th country. The MCC agreement has a flowery story in which the US gives Sri LankaUSD 480 million. USD 350 million is spent to improve the logistics system while USD 67.5 million is being granted for land settlements. This will see the demarcation of lands and the preparation of deeds, while upturning Sri Lanka's land law before releasing lands to the global capital market."
