Colombo (News 1st): Nine human skulls, thought to be over 200 years old, in the possession of the Edinburgh University have been returned to Sri Lanka in a repatriation ceremony today (November 22). They were taken from their place of origin more than a century ago.
However, the skulls will be presented to Wanniya Uruwarige, chief of Vedda people after anatomy researchers at the university agreed to the Vedda’s claim as the earliest inhabitants of Sri Lanka. Chief Wanniya Uruwarige is scheduled to attend the presentation at the University’s Playfair Library.
