Lasting peace established over Sri Lanka: President

Colombo (News 1st): President Maithripala Sirisena says that lasting peace has been established over the island. Speaking at an event in Polonnaruwa yesterday (July 5) the President said that during the past four and half years he strengthened democracy and freedom in Sri Lanka unlike anyone in the past. He said he also secured peace on the island until the events of April 21st. President Sirisena said that since then, the threat of terrorism has been defeated and peace has been re-established.
