SF provides statement on Noyahr abduction

Colombo (News1st): Minister Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka visited the Criminal Investigations Department today (September 25) to provide a statement over the abduction of journalist Keith Noyahr. Today was incidentally the second time the CID recorded a statement from the Minister Sarath Fonseka over the abduction of journalist Keith Noyahr. The Minister who visited the CID premises just after 12 noon left at around 04:30 this evening after providing a statement for more than 04 hours. Minister Sarath Fonseka served as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army when Keith Noyahr was abducted. Speaking to the media Minister Fonseka stated that Gotabaya Rajapaksa has given evidence claiming that he (Minister Fonseka) was aware of the assault on Keith Noyahr, therefore, the CID has questioned on what response would he give on the allegations made by Keith Noyahr. The Criminal Investigations Department today produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrates Court the statements it recorded from the Present Secretary of Defence over the abduction of Journalist Keith Noyahr. Earlier, the court ordered the CID to record a statement from the incumbent Secretary of Defence over the Baduwatte Safe House. The CID informed the court that the Defence Secretary had claimed the Sri Lanka Army does not possess any documentation on the matter. However, Officials claim they are to receive certain documents. The statement recorded by Former Secretary of Defense Gotabaya Rajapaksa was also produced in Court today.
