The fire that erupted in the Alugolla reserve in Badulla has been brought under control according to the district disaster management center.
Asst. Director of the Badulla district DMC, E.M.L. Udayakumar stated that they were able to control the fire from spreading by last evening.
The area in which the fire erupted has been designated as a high-security zone as the area contains a warehouse which contains the gunpowder stores of the Badulla district secretariat.
The fire was controlled with the assitance of Badulla Municipal Council's fire and rescue unit as well as the Sri Lanka Army.
It is suspected that the fire was caused by an act of arson.
