Coal Probe Commission Begins Questioning Procurement Officials

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Presidential Commission appointed to investigate coal transactions has commenced recording statements from the officials of the procurement committees involved in purchasing coal.

The commission stated that statements were recorded from four procurement committee officials yesterday.

To date, the commission has recorded statements from approximately 50 government officials.

The Presidential Commission investigating coal transactions has received 28 complaints so far.

The open hearing of evidence by the commission is scheduled to commence in the first week of July.
