COLOMBO (News 1st); Thambuttegama Magistrate, Gayathri Hettiarachchi, ordered that the school principal arrested with a large quantity of heroin in Eppawala be remanded until November 26.
The court also directed that the seized narcotics be sent to the Government Analyst and that the report be submitted to the court.
The suspect, who served as the principal of a primary school in the Thambuttegama Education Zone, was arrested on November 5 with over one kilogram of heroin.
Another suspect, arrested with 69 grams of heroin, was also ordered to remain in remand custody until November 26.
Both suspects were previously held under a seven-day detention order by the Anuradhapura Crimes Investigation Division for questioning.
The principal’s wife had previously served as a member of the Peliyagoda Urban Council representing the National People’s Power.
