COLOMBO (News 1st); A special commemorative stamp was issued on Thursday (10) by the Philatelic Bureau of the Postal Department on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army.
The event, held at Army Headquarters, was graced by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, as the Chief Guest.
This event followed the main segment that took place at the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Army Cantonment in Panagoda.
S.R.W.M.R.P. Sathkumara, the Post Master General, D.A. Rajitha K. Ranasinghe, the Deputy Postmaster General, and their staff participated in the event at Army Headquarters and the anniversary first cover was stamped and formally released to the public.
The Army Chief accepted the first cover from the Postmaster General.
Subsequently, the Commander of the Army presented a memento to the Post Master General.
Major General W.P.A.D.W. Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of Staff, also received the commemorative stamp.
