World Bank Group Confident in Sri Lanka's New Leadership

COLOMBO (News 1st); The World Bank Group has warmly congratulated President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on his recent election victory.

In a letter addressed to the President, Martin Raiser, Vice President for the South Asia Region of the World Bank, and Riccardo Puliti, Vice President for the Asia and Pacific Region of the International Finance Corporation, emphasized the significance of this election at a pivotal moment in Sri Lanka's history.

They acknowledged that while Sri Lanka's economic reset demands ongoing attention, the potential for growth, prosperity, and development remains substantial. 

The World Bank Group expressed confidence that under President Dissanayake's leadership, Sri Lanka will continue to build on its strengths and advance its development agenda.

Furthermore, the World Bank Group affirmed its readiness to support the President and his new administration in their efforts to foster a prosperous and sustainable future for the nation.
