COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Electricity Board said that it will launch an analysis aimed at reducing electricity tariffs for consumers.

CEB Chairman Dr. Tilak Siyambalapitiya said that the report on the analysis will be submitted to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka.

Currently, the official term of the Public Utilities Commission has ended, and new members will be appointed only after the new Parliament is formed.

Dr. Siyambalapitiya highlighted that while electricity tariff analyses should be conducted four times a month, this has not been done systematically.

He emphasized that the government aims to reduce electricity tariffs to provide maximum relief to the public during these challenging times.
