One killed in a shooting in Nawagamuwa

COLOMBO (News 1swt); One person has died in a shooting reported in Nawagamuwa on Wednesday (10) night.

Police said the shooting was carried out by two unidentified persons who arrived on a motorcycle.

The two suspects arrived at the house of the relevant individual on Wednesday (10) night, impersonating security personnel.

Police said they took the man to a nearby swamp, shot him and fled the scene.

The person who sustained injuries was admitted to the Athurigiriya Hospital for treatment.

Police said he died after being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment.

The deceased was a resident of Welipillawa, Nawagamuwa.

Police are conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
