COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Health has taken steps to regulate the maximum price charged for PCR and antigen tests conducted by private sector hospitals.
Accordingly, private hospitals can charge Rs. 6,500 for a PCR test and Rs. 2,000 for an antigen test.
The decision was reached in view of the fast spread of the virus these days, a statement released by the Ministry of Health reads.
Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi also stated that steps will be taken to issue a gazette notification to regulate these prices tomorrow (12), after discussions with the Ministry of Health and the Consumer Affairs.
