COLOMBO (News1st): Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, has said that the consistency of the legislature has been lost.
"...a section has been included in the constitution stating that the new Parliament must be convened within three months," Dissanayake told reporters.
He pointed out that the government has backtracked on their promises and imposed heavy taxes on the people.
"The government is now implementing a policy of imposing several taxes," Dissanayake noted.
He observed that the Parliament consists of several corrupt individuals that include owners of distilleries, bars, those involved in the rice mafia, and sand mining.
"This Parliament must be cleaned," the JVP leader remarked.
He said that there is a need to conduct without delay, but that the people's lives should not be put at risk amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
