BAN KI MOON’S PANEL CANNOT COME HERE WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION: PM

Email Print PDF

March 12, 2010: “UN Secretary General cannot grant permission for his special panel to come in to Sri Lanka. They need our permission first,” said the Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickremanayake addressing a meeting held in Borella yesterday to secure the victory of UPFA Colombo district candidate Thilanga Sumathipala at the general election.

“What is the UN boss saying? He is a strange man. He says that a panel will be appointed to investigate certain incidents that occurred during a certain time in the country.

"Is he the one who will grant them permission to come here? No, it’s us. We don’t want them here. We are the ones who grant visas. They are speaking without understanding this fact.

"But remember one thing. Our own people are the ones who paved the way for him to act this way.” said the Prime Minister.
