March 12, 2010: The salinity levels of the Kalu Ganga could rise due to water levels of the river decreasing, says the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.
“Dry weather conditions resulting in extreme heat has caused high rate of water consumption and the flow of water from higher elevations has decreased,” said Lal Premanath, General Manager of the Board.
The Board has requested the public to use water sparingly.
