March 11, 2010: Another phase of the campaign to obtain signatures for the public petition calling for the release of General Sarath Fonseka got underway in Badulla yesterday.
A group of opposition politicians including MP Samantha Vidyarathna, Jayantha Kannangara and Harin Fernando were present at the occasion.
“The brave commander who did no wrong and fought for the country has been taken into custody. All the people are shocked by this. So the people of Badulla have come together to voice their objections to it,” said Harin Fernando.
“At a time when General Sarath Fonseka has been imprisoned, we would like to appeal to you to place your signature and show him your support,” said Samantha Vidyarathna.
