March 10, 2010: Another phase of the campaign to obtain signatures for a public petition, to secure the release of General Sarath Fonseka, took place in the Nugegoda area yesterday.
The National Democratic Alliance has initiated this campaign across the island. The campaign in the Colombo district was inaugurated from near the flyover in Nugegoda yesterday.
“It has been one month since Sarath Fonseka was forcibly abducted right before our eyes. We have commenced a programme to collect a million signatures for a petition to protest against this.
"We have noticed that irrespective of which party they vote for, people are placing their signatures against this injustice,” said Sunil Handunneththi, MP of the JVP.
