March 10, 2010: Senior journalist Susil Kindelpitiya has been appointed as the Colombo district organizer of the United National Party.
Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe handed over the letter of appointment to Kindelpitiya as the Colombo district organizer at a function organized at the UNP headquarters yesterday.
“The United National Party leadership has placed its trust in me. On behalf of the people, I promise that trust will not be violated.
"There are several challenges before us. At a time when democracy has been challenged in a very serious manner, I promise that I will commit myself to uphold democracy for the people and to make the UNP victorious at the next general election,” said Kindelpitiya.
“Susil Kindelpitiya has been appointed as the Colombo district organizer. This bears testimony to the fact that the UNP is a party that looks out for talented people and a party that the youth can represent. We don’t want nepotism. We need talented people and we are ready to assist all of them,” said Ravi Karunanayake.
