March 08, 2010: A protest rally was held at Hyde Park today against the holding of General Sarath Fonseka in custody for over one month. Leaders of the Democratic National Alliance were present on stage along with Mrs. Anoma Fonseka.
Addressing the meeting Vijitha Herath (JVP) it was one month since the General was arrested.
“Today is the International Women's Day. Today, the General's wife, the beloved mother of his two children and the courageous mother, has come forward to join with you to carry on the struggle.
“She will energize this struggle and take the leadership. The whole nation and all the women in the country will have her guidance,” said Herath.
