March 08, 2010: Fifty unauthorised structures, built sans approved plans, have been removed by the Ministry of Urban Development and Sacred Area Development.
“The majority of these buildings were from Colombo,” said Dr. P. Ramanujam, Secretary to the Ministry.
Legal action had also been initiated against several other illegal structures that had been built without the required planning approval, said Dr. Ramanujam.
The ministry plans to demolish all such structures in several stages.
